Potholder Pass 10

I have joined a new Potholder Pass group swap on Flickr.com. This round is scrappy log cabin. My person that I am making the potholder for lives in Biggleswade, United Kingdom. She likes spring colors so here is a picture of the fabric I am choosing from. I am going to use yellows, pinks, blues, and greens. Should be a really fun round as the log cabin is one of my favorite blocks. I will publish some sneak peaks as well as the finished product that I send.

Breanna's Graduation Quilt

So my niece graduated high school last June. I made her a quilt and I am finally posting pictures of her quilt.

She loves Orange and so I made it with lots of orange. I cut circles in different sizes and stacked some of the circles. I used Amy Butler fabrics as the base that I got in a layer cake. I attached each circle with decorative stitches around each edge of the circles to attach them to the base fabric. It turned out really nice and bright.

She loves the quilt. It was a lot of fun to make.

potholder pass starting

I just got my partner assignment for the potholder swap #10. This is a flickr group where we have a theme and swap a set of potholders with someone. The theme for this swap is scrappy log cabin. My partner is in the united kingdom. she is blogger espritpatch. She want's spring colors for her potholders so this will be fun. Already have an idea on what to do.

I will post pictures as i move along with this swap. I have to have it in the mail by feb 16.

2nd of the 2 quilts for a friends twins

here is the quilt for the baby girl. This is a scrappy quilt with the 9 patch block pattern set with fabric that has numbers and animals on it. Border is pink so this is great for a baby girl.

A co-worker and friend's wife had twins a boy and a girl. I made them a quilt for each baby. the first quilt is thomas the train quilt in reds and blue. It was made with a panel so it was really quick and easy to put together. It looks good too.

Welcome 2012

I am excited it is the new year. I have resolved to do a few things better this year:

• I am going to write on the blog more.



• I am going to use up my scrap fabric; and not keep so many scraps (only BIG ones)



• I am going to complete more quilt tops into actual finished quilts.



• I am going to send a small art quilt to the Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative each month

It will be such a fun year I hope. Have a great one everyone!!

The weather here in the PNW has finally turned to summer in the last few days. It was so nice to come back home from spending a week and a half in Durham, NC in 103 degree (114 with heat index) weather to 80 degree weather. The humidity alone was terrible. I didn't even leave the apartment last weekend due to the weather but that was ok, I had a nice, relaxing sewing weekend. I am making a bento box quilt with my scrap fabrics and it is turning out nice. I have decided to try and put a big dent in my scrap fabric pile since I have so much of it and then I can keep working with my stash of fabric. Always nice to use it up so you can buy more.

Well, going to get back outside to do some yard work.
